The Community Chaplaincy Association (CCA) unites and strengthens community chaplaincies and faith-based organisations across the country. Our members walk alongside people who are leaving prison, helping them reconnect with community, rebuild relationships, and move away from crime.

We support, represent and connect our members so that desistance support can be strengthened and expanded nationwide.

Community chaplaincies are voluntary sector faith based organisations that support people on their release from prison and then for as long as needed as they re-settle into the community.

I was very doubtful I would stay out of prison for longer than 3 months, but with your help I have stayed out of jail for the longest period I ever have and I’m NOT GOING BACK!

They have helped me so many times. I have been picked up at the gate, taken to church and recently to a conference. They are only a phone call away if you need them. I would recommend the charity to anyone who is struggling after leaving prison.

Faith & Inclusion

The foundations of community chaplaincy are derived from faith-based principles. Faith is recognised across the justice sector as a protective factor. The CCA recognises all faiths, harnessing and supporting the resources of single and multi-faith communities in response to the needs of people leaving prison and their families.

CCA projects support clients of all faiths and none, believing in the intrinsic value of each human life. It is not zealous outreach, although it may respond to those who wish to explore faith. Faith informs and motivates the work of the CCA and its members, a faith that no one is beyond help, and a belief in the transformative power of hope, compassion, forgiveness, perseverance and patience.
